Our travel adventures in Germany etc

Journey to our first stop, Tegernsee, Germany

Neal was meeting up with collaborators at a conference in the lakeside town of Tegernsee, a known summer vacation spot.  The journey took around 24hrs, door-to-door from home to our lodging in Germany, including the wait times between the rides:
  1. Lyft ride from home to LAX airport (1hr)
  2. Plane ride from LA to Dublin, Ireland (10hrs)
  3. Plane ride from Dublin to Munich, Germany (2hrs)
  4. Train ride from Munich airport to next stop (just one stop, because we realized that we had boarded the wrong train)
  5. Train ride back on the path towards Ostbahnhof station, at city center of Munich. (about 40 mins)
  6. Train ride from Ostbahnhof station to towards Holtzkirch, the end of the line, at the outskirts of the city (maybe 20mins)
  7. Train service had a last minute change of plans, so we had to get off the previous train midway and switch trains that finally did take us to Holtzkirch. (Maybe 20mins)
  8. Bus ride from Holtzkirch to post office at Tegernsee. (maybe half an hour)
  9. Walk from post office to the holiday house previously booked by Neal.  (7mins)
I love long sleepover flights! The part I look forward to most is the movie marathon.  The entertainment screen actually had an option called “binge watching.”  I got to discover why the Game of Thrones was a hit.
