Neal was meeting up with collaborators at a conference in the lakeside town of Tegernsee, a known summer vacation spot. The journey took around 24hrs, door-to-door from home to our lodging in Germany, including the wait times between the rides:
- Lyft ride from home to LAX airport (1hr)
- Plane ride from LA to Dublin, Ireland (10hrs)
- Plane ride from Dublin to Munich, Germany (2hrs)
- Train ride from Munich airport to next stop (just one stop, because we realized that we had boarded the wrong train)
- Train ride back on the path towards Ostbahnhof station, at city center of Munich. (about 40 mins)
- Train ride from Ostbahnhof station to towards Holtzkirch, the end of the line, at the outskirts of the city (maybe 20mins)
- Train service had a last minute change of plans, so we had to get off the previous train midway and switch trains that finally did take us to Holtzkirch. (Maybe 20mins)
- Bus ride from Holtzkirch to post office at Tegernsee. (maybe half an hour)
- Walk from post office to the holiday house previously booked by Neal. (7mins)
